Master Scholarship Program 2011 at International Space University, France

The International Space University is given funding from industry and government agencies to help support MSc students who are unable to cover all of their tuition fees. This aid is available to selected applicants, and covers a portion of their fees. It is paid directly to ISU by the sponsoring organization.

This financial aid is available for:

applicants from Europe (the countries listed below have priority*)
applicants from the United States and Canada
applicants from ISU Affiliates
applicants from developing countries
applicants from other countries (within the limits of funds available)

Financial aid is granted on the basis of:

academic and professional merit
demonstrated efforts in personal fund-raising

Applicants for the MSc programs 2011-2012 should apply online on the ISU website before 15 March 2011 if they wish to receive a scholarship, or before 30 June 2011 if they are not in need of financial support. Financial aid will be awarded within the limits of funds available, so early applications are highly recommended.

Scholarships will start to be awarded in December 2010. Please note that the relevant box on the Confidential Financial Information form of the application must be checked. It is recommended that candidates make a personal effort to raise funds enabling them to attend the program. Such initiatives are taken into consideration when ISU allocates funding.

When submitting your application to ISU, please don’t forget to attach your resume. Your resume may be given by ISU Staff Members to sponsors. However, ISU will not give its sponsors contact information, but will try its best to match applicant’s profiles to sponsor requirements.

The ISU Funding Committee, which includes both faculty and Sponsors, awards funding to applicants whose career goals appear to stand to gain substantial benefit from the ISU MSc programs. Funding is given for help towards tuition fees only.

ISU does not assist with living or travel expenses.

The Computer Science STEM Scholarship (CSS)

A competitive scholarship program for undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science. The award is for $1000 per trimester in tuition to be applied toward specific courses required in the Computer Science Major. View the CSS Scholarship Application for deadlines and requirements.

General Scholarship Requirements:

Undergraduate students attending Franklin University who are majoring in Computer Science and have completed COMP 111.
Along with this cover sheet, you must submit a typed essay (no more that two pages long) describing what you understand the field of computer science to be, explaining you are interested in this major, and describing your career interests and goals.
You must also submit or have on file at Franklin transcripts from previous academic work: college transcript if you have 20 or more semester hours at the post-secondary level, both high school and college transcripts if the student has fewer than 20 semester hours at the post-secondary level.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must have a 3.00 gpa in major courses.
Potential to be renewed during the academic year based on eligibility criteria.

USA - The 2010 NASA Scholarship Awards for Undergraduate and Graduate Students in Aeronautics or Related Fields

These scholarships are a fantastic way to support our brightest students and encourage them to finish their education, expose them to NASA’s research programs and inspire them to pursue a career in aeronautics,” said Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

NASA expects to award 20 undergraduate and five graduate scholarships to students in aeronautics or related fields. Undergraduate students entering their second year of study will receive up to $15,000 per year for two years and the opportunity to receive a $10,000 stipend by interning at a NASA research center during the summer. Graduate students will receive up to $35,000 per annually for up to three years, with an opportunity to receive a $10,000 stipend interning at a NASA research center up to two consecutive summers.

Students who have not committed to a specific academic institution or program still may apply. However, if accepted, they must be admitted by fall 2010 into a suitable aeronautical engineering program or related field of study at an accredited U.S. university. All applicants must be U.S. citizens. Scholarship money may be used for tuition and other school-related expenses.

The number of study grants can be increased with funding by public or private bodies as long as notification is provided by the date of the first exam. The Bournemouth MBA Director will award a number of scholarships to outstanding professional students who are enrolling on the Bournemouth MBA in September 2009.

The Bournemouth MBA Director’s Scholarships are available for full- and part-time applicants, irrespective of nationality or citizenship status.

King’s College London is committed to opening doors to excellence for gifted and talented students and these scholarships will benefit students who for financial reasons would otherwise be unable to attend. Each scholarship will fund the course tuition fees, travel, accommodation and books.

The scholarships are generously supported by the Samuel Sebba Trust through Cicely Saunders International (CSI). CSI was established in 2002 and is the only charity dedicated to research, education and support in the field of palliative care.

Application Criteria

The MSc in Palliative Care is open to UK-based doctors, nurses, and health and social care professionals working with patients with advanced disease.

To apply for the scholarship you must fulfil the following criteria:

You must have a first degree in medicine, nursing, life sciences, social sciences or other approved subject awarded by a United Kingdom university or a recognised overseas university.
You must be currently working in palliative care or a related field (clinical or social care, in practice or research) in the United Kingdom
You must have an interest in conducting research into the assessment and management of pain associated with advanced disease (cancer or non-malignant conditions e.g. MS, MND or heart failure).

As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita’s vision, we are pleased to announce the 2009 Google Australia and New Zealand Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. Through the scholarship, we aim to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated leadership. A group of female undergraduate and graduate student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. Each scholar recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship towards the 2010 academic year. In addition all finalists and scholarship recipients will be invited to an expenses-paid networking retreat to be held at Google’s Sydney Engineering centre in September.

At the University of Westminster you can apply for a scholarship once you have been offered a place (either conditional or unconditional) on a course at the University, but before you start your course. The only exception to this rule is if you are an undergraduate UK/EU student who started your course under the new tuition fee regime.

Diplomatic Scholarships
Amount: 65 per cent fee waivers.
Eligibility: These scholarships are available to you if you are a child of diplomats from developing countries, whose countries are unable to contribute to the fees. Your parent in the diplomatic post must be based in the UK, and you must hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University. The scholarship is for the length of the course (3 or 4 years) and is subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Criteria: Academic excellence.

East Timor Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in conjunction with the Ai-Kameli Trust and International Students House.

Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London for the period of study.

Eligibility: You must be from East Timor and wish to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster. You must be interested in studying a subject useful to the development of East Timor, and intend to return on completion of the course.

Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.

Gambia Biomedical Sciences Scholarship
This scholarship is only open to you if you have successfully completed the University of Westminster Diploma in Biomedical Sciences. It is a three year scholarship, subject to satisfactory academic progress, for the full-time BSc Honours Biomedical Sciences.

Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and annual flights to and from London.

Eligibility: You must be a citizen of the Gambia and hold an offer for the full-time BSc Honours Biomedical Sciences.

Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need. You must make a case as to how the skills and knowledge acquired on the course will be helpful to the development of the Gambia. You must also commit to return to the Gambia on completion of the course.

Ken Bird Memorial Scholarship
Ken Bird was formerly Chair of the University’s Technology and Design Department. This scholarship reflects Ken’s interest in South Asia as well as his desire to help provide educational opportunities for women. The family of Ken Bird will take an active role in the choice and welfare of the scholar. The scholarship is awarded jointly with International Students House.

Amount: Full tuition fee waiver and accommodation at International Students House.

Eligibility: Preference will be given to you if you are a female student from India or Sri Lanka and hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree in a technology based subject. The scholarship will be renewed each year based on your academic performance.

Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need.

Procedure:

Apply for scholarships only after you have been offered a place (conditional or unconditional) on a course at the University of Westminster. Please do not apply if you have already enrolled or begun a course of study at the University of Westminster (except in the case of Progression Scholarships and the Westminster Careers Awards).
Read the information on individual scholarships carefully and ensure that you only apply for ones that you are eligible for and meet the criteria of. For example, do not apply for the Tanzania Scholarship unless you are from Tanzania.
Photocopy the application form at the back of our scholarships brochure or print the form from our website.
Do use the same application form when applying for more than one scholarship.
Attach the relevant papers only and keep your supporting documents to a minimum. The quantity of documents sent does not give any advantage.
Attach translations where supporting documents are in any other language but English.
Word process the application as far as possible. If handwriting the application, please ensure it is written clearly and in block letters. Illegible applications will be considered ineligible.
Keep your application concise.

The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to announce the availability of approximately 40 new Fulbright scholarships under the aegis of the Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program to pursue Ph.D. degree in the United States for the 2009-2010 academic year. The Fulbright Program in Indonesia promotes mutual understanding between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America through educational exchange and academic scholarship. Fulbright scholarships are available to Indonesian citizens with the appropriate qualifications as stipulated in the program descriptions listed below.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS

Preference will be given to applicants who serve or plan to serve as faculty members of state and private institutions of higher education in Indonesia and have not previously received any Fulbright scholarship.

a Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.00 scale).

Hubert H. Humphrey fellowships enable Indonesian mid-career professionals to participate in non-degree programs that combine academic course work at the graduate level with professional development activities in the U.S. for a period of one academic year (9 months). Candidates are typically administrators in leadership positions with a minimum of five years of work experience who represent either the public or non-profit private sectors, including Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) who are committed to public service.

The Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program provides grants for Indonesian scholars and practitioners to conduct intensive three to six week programs of teaching, lecturing and public outreach on topics in Islamic civilization and developments in the Muslim world. Ideal applicants are scholars or practitioners with outstanding records of academic, professional, community service, the ability to address topics in Islamic civilization in addition to teaching in their own disciplines and about Indonesia, the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in English and the desire to serve as a cultural ambassador. The participants may teach short courses or seminars in their field of expertise as it relates to Islam or the Muslim world, team-teach with American faculty, student or teacher workshops, advise faculty and students, develop curricula, participate in informal discussions with students, and outreach activities, including programs for community groups, and interviews with the media. The program does not support research and provides no time for the participants to pursue personal projects. Participants may be in fields of Islamic and area studies, arts, communication and journalism.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent experience or a terminal degree in their field, demonstrate a strong record of academic, professional, and community service, expertise on Islam as a creed and culture, maturity, dependability, flexibility, integrity and professionalism. This new international educational exchange program enables individuals from Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and South Africa to study at a community college in the United States to develop professional skills.

Eligible fields are Business Management and Administration; Tourism and Hospitality Management; Health Professions, including Nursing; Media; Information Technology; Security and Public Safety; and Engineering Science.

ELIGIBILITY

To apply to the program, candidates must:

Have completed a secondary school education;
Have relevant work experience in the field in which they are applying;
Have English language skills that provide a basis for enrolling in academic coursework following approximately 6 months of intensive English language study in the U.S.;
Submit a complete application; and
Minimum Institutional TOEFL score 500 or TOEIC score 650 (only scores less than 2 years old are valid).

U.S. PROGRAM

The Community College Summit Initiative Program will provide funding for round-trip airfare to the U.S.; a living allowance during English language, academic, and practical training program components; tuition costs; health insurance; and cultural enhancement activities. Students will be hosted in groups by community colleges competitively selected to participate in the program. Programs may range from six months to two years in duration and may result in either a certificate or an Associate Degree. The International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and is implemented by IREX (the International Research & Exchanges Board), a Washington, DC based non-profit organization.

ILEP will consist of a semester-long academic program at a U.S. university, including coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, teaching strategies for their home environment, teacher leadership, as well as the use of computers for internet, word processing and as tools for teaching. The semester-long program, which will commence in January 2010 and conclude in May 2010, will also include an internship at a secondary school to engage participants actively with the American teachers and students.

SPAIN - The 2009 Graduate Scholarships in Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

The Department of Economics of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid offers a distinguished Graduate Program in Economics to outstanding young graduates in a full time basis. The program is composed by a two-year Master in Economic Analysis aimed at training students in advanced economics, followed by two or three additional years of research towards the completion of a PhD dissertation.

All entering students can benefit from scholarships covering living expenses and fees financed by the Department of Economics (conditional on satisfactory academic performance and collaboration in academic tasks).

Admissions decisions will be done by the Direction of the Graduate Program based on academic criteria, and with the advise of the Scientific Board.

Students are only admitted in a full-time regime.

A degree equivalent to bachelor or engineer is required. Furthermore, a background in quantitative methods is strongly recommended.

As the program is conducted entirely in English, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English. Accreditation of English proficiency is the responsibility of each applicant. Students who earned a bachelor’s, an engineering degree or a masters in a program where the language of instruction was English need not take seek accreditation. While there is no official cut off, the following scores are desirable: TOEFL score of 550, level A-C Cambridge Proficiency Certificate, a level A Cambridge First Certificate, or a level 6 or higher on the IELTS of the British Council.

To ease the academic transition for those students without a background in economics and to ensure that all students have an exposure to some essential mathematical tools the department offers intensive summer courses in mathematics Attendance is required. Course starts in mid September and run through September 30.

The Joint Master’s Degree (MSc) Program on Integrated Dry lands Management brings together different expertise and scientific resources of the partner institutes to build advanced human capital, generate and adapt global knowledge for local solutions in dry lands. The program provides young professionals and scientists an international perspective on integrated resources management approaches in dry lands and allows them to gain practical experience in different dry land countries. Throughout the program, a strong emphasis will be placed on multidisciplinary approaches.

The MSc Program will offer two components:

Tuition Fee and Scholarship

Tuition fee for the MS Program is US $5,000 including costs of course delivery, supervision and examination. The tuition fee will be waived for those students who are recipients of a fellowship. About LICOS

LICOS is a research centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Business and Economics that focuses on theoretical and empirical research of macro- and micro-economic aspects of transition, institutional changes and economic performance. LICOS belongs to the 12 “Centres of Excellence” of K.U. Leuven. The research at LICOS is organized around four main research themes, each under the auspices of a Research Director:

PhD Program at the Faculty

The research project will allow the student to simultaneously pursue a PhD in (Applied) Economics. The University of Leuven (KUL) has an extensive Ph.D. program: about 160 researchers are currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Economics/ Business studies or PhD in Economics. Usually, a PhD program takes 4 years, with the first year including important course work in advanced economics.

In today’s increasingly competitive and globalised corporate landscape, outsourcing and innovation are seen as the tools that give organisations the ability to develop sustainable competitive positions. Although, taken individually, these thematic areas (outsourcing and innovation) have already been subjected to considerable academic scrutiny, the relationship between the two is still relatively under-researched. PhD proposals are invited to examine the linkages between international outsourcing and innovation at both a theoretical and empirical level. More specifically, the focus of the research would be to investigate whether international outsourcing may increase or hinder innovative activity at plant, industry, sector and/or country level.

Applicants must have a good 2.1 honours degree in economics or business economics and a good masters degree in economics or closely related discipline. Some experience of econometric estimation (regression analysis) and familiarity with standard econometric packages (such as Stata or EViews) would be an advantage. The successful candidate will also require a high degree of computer literacy. (At undergraduate level a good 2.1 is taken to mean an average mark in the upper half of the 2.1 band and a good masters degree is taken to mean an average grade of at least 65% with no mark below 60%, and at least 65% at the dissertation stage).

Applicants will produce a research proposal of not more than 2,000 words that outlines and justifies the proposed research question, identifies any additional data requirements and details the proposed work programme.

The full-time studentship, which includes an element for teaching will be for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress. The bursary will be £20,000 pa plus student fees.
